1. What is the most significant accomplishment in looking at your Midterm or
Final? You can talk about technique in Photoshop, investigating your Big
Idea, creating a meaningful artwork, etc.
While making the Midterm and the Final projects, I learned lots of skills and control layers. Before I took this class, I've never used the mask tool and the pen tool. Now I really love to use them. Also, I visited some art web sites to get some idea for my projects. It was very helpful to my big idea and Photoshop techniques.
2. Choose a project in the class and discuss your most challenging learning
experience in Photoshop. Focus on a technique or concept from
Photoshop that was difficult at first, but that you mastered by the end of
the quarter.
My most challenging learning experience in Photoshop was to follow the photoshop tutorial which I found from the worth100.com because I had to search the location of every tools which was used for the tutorial. After I learned some skills from the tutorial, I tried to apply same technique to my own project, but it was pretty difficult because I had to apply different values although I used the same tool, because it depends on the image that I am using.
3. Compare two projects from the quarter to compare and contrast how you
achieved making meaning in the work. Try to showcase in your examples
an improved capacity to making visual images that mean something as
opposed to being a showcase of technique.
I think only thing improved from the quarter greatly is that I learned new techniques from the class. I don't think my artistic view or composition of my artworks has not been greatly changed. But, by visiting artist web sites and discussing about artworks, I have started thinking meaning of artworks.

Blog Assignment#4
My big idea for the final work is 'imagination'. So, I found some art works from internet. The genre of most of the art works that I found are surrealism.
James Sutton's work http://beautifuldecay.com/2009/11/05/james-sutton/ Green fog and green sky. We have never seen before. He created very mysterious mood by using green color. This is a very good example to create mysterious or fantastic mood for my final project.
Todd Schorr's work http://beautifuldecay.com/2010/04/08/todd-schorr/
Very very creative! Monster world? Humorous and it seems to be telling us lots of stories!
Bechira Sorin's work http://beautifuldecay.com/2009/06/04/bechira-sorin/
Very abstract but very well balanced composition. Spacially dynamic, but silent mood. Its composition can be appiled to my final project. Using similar compositon, I think I could create impossible space.

Like these drawings, I'd like to create 'imagination world' for the final work. And I will use new technique which I learned from internet.

Blog Assignment#3
Vicente Garcia Morillo
This drawing is one of Vicente Garcia Morillo's works of which big idea is music. Since I decided 'Passion of Music' as my big idea, this image appealed to me a lot because of its components, a headset and a boxing glove. It seems to tell us 'strong music' or 'power of music'.

This is Mark Schaer's work. It contains many elements, video game characters, cartoon heroes, cheerleaders, and video game machines. Its big idea is 'game'. The composition of this art work is pretty strong which is created by cheerleaders' hand and street view. Because of them, we can feel depth of space, and they make some rhythm.

Lighting a Giant Elephant
Downloaded source images from http://fx.worth1000.com/tutorials/161386/lighting-a-giant-elephant
using polygon lasso tool, cut out the elephant image, and duplicate the image to make 'shadow' and 'light' layer to make light effects.
Shadow
light
To remove shadow layer, add vector mask on the shadow layer which should be above the light layer
Select the mask, and using the brush tool, remove the shadow layer's image. Make sure that before erase it reduce the brush tool's opacity for smoothness.
To create the shadow of the elephant, pick the color of the shadow of cars, which is dark blue.
And using the brush tool draw shadow carefully, and change the layer's type to multiply.
And using the bright and contrast tool and the color balance tool, adjust its color to the same color of the cars' shadow.

Blog Assignment #1
Artist : Adam Rix
Adam Rix has produced lots of graphic works and won many awards. He also has worked with clients such as Nike, BBC, Absolute Vodka, Cream, and Dr. Martens. This image was used for a Nike commercial. Many people think atheletic sport is just physical sport which is far away from art. They think other sport such as figure skating or syncronized swimming are more similar to art. But, coping and pasting a photo of a female athlete, he created a very rythmical and dynamic pattern. Also it is very artistic! This image was a great art work for an advertisement because it has a great power that can make people love athletic sports and jogging.
Kimiko Yoshida is a Japanese photographer whose works are about feminism. This photo is one of her works that shows a woman who is colored all red with some gold. Red and gold colors are representative of Chinese communism which limits people's freedom. The lady in this photo keeps her head down, and closing her mouth. She cannot tell anything, express her feeling too. One of her hand, there is a small book. It seems like she is saying to us "I cannot do anything because of this". This work shows us the sexual descrimination in Japan.
